Cheryal provides program development, program implementation, organization planning, financial planning and oversight, communication to Commission and the five counties served by Region Five and staff supervision. Previously Cheryal held the position of the Executive Director of the Mid-Minnesota Builders Association is a small business owner and has experience in marketing, sales and business consulting. |

Jake graduated from St.Cloud State University in 2007 with a BA degree in Community Development. Jake has previous planning and development experience with the City of Princeton and the City of Colchester. Prior to working at Region Five, Jake worked for Allianz Life Insurance of North America. Jake is a member of the Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Lakes Vybe group, is a member of the Staples Planning and Zoning committee and sits on the Staples LEAP committee.

Lee Miller

Lee graduated from St. Cloud State University in 2008 with a BA degree in Community Development. Lee's previous experience includes work as a community development intern for the City of Avon and working for the Hutchinson Economic Development Authority as an Economic Development Assistant. He is a member of the Economic Development Association of Minnesota and is involved with the Legislative Committee. Locally Lee is involved with the Staples Rotary Club, Staples-Motley Chamber of Commerce and the Quad County Youth Football League.

Anne Hanson

Anne Hanson comes to Region Five after 32 years with the Postal Service. The last eight years she was an administrative assistant. She was the postal liaison to Morrison County for the 911 Enhanced Addressing System. Hanson has an A.A. degree in accounting from Central Lakes College. At Region Five Anne manages the Individual Sewage Treatment System (ISTS) program and assists the director in the Economic Development Department.

Nicky joined Region Five in March of 2008. She received her B.S. in Accounting from Bemidji State University in 2004. Since 2001 Nicky has worked in both public and private accounting.

Tad Erickson

Tad earned his Bachelor's degree in Finance from Pensacola Christian College in 2009. He worked for the City of Little Falls as an intern for 3 years. Tad is currently serving on the Planning Commission for the City of Brainerd, and is a member of the American Planning Association, as well as the Brainerd Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce Lakes Vybe.

Angela has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Business Administration and Economics with an emphasis in finance. She has an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for energy conservation which led her to obtaining her Energy Auditor Certificate. As a Regional Organizer for the Clean Energy Resource Teams (CERTs) and Central Minnesota Alternative Energy Regional Collaborative (CMAERC) Angela works with energy efficiency/conservation and renewable energy community-scale projects. |

VISTA Local Foods Volunteer: Kim Burkett
Kim holds a B.A. in Communications and Public Administration from St. Cloud State University, a graduate level certificate in Marketing from the University of St. Thomas and is currently working toward her MBC. She comes to Region Five with 10 years of experience in Marketing and Communications as well as experience in the building industry as a Purchasing Manager. Kim is a member of the Pine & Lake Country Local Food group and Region Five’s Community Gardens workgroup, and works with various Farm to School initiatives throughout the area.
Economic Development Intern: Maria Funk
Maria Funk is currently a sophomore working towards her B.S. degree in Agricultural Education at the University of Minnesota, Crookston. She is involved in the Ag. Arama club, CFFA, and plays for the UMC Golden Eagle softball team. She is also part of the Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society and Sigma Alpha Pi, Crookston’s Chapter of the National Society of Leadership. She is interning in the Economic Development department.
